PROJECT 8: CLOTH AS A QUEER ARCHIVE

SPRING SUMMER 24

PALAIS DE TOKYO

Debut Collection presented at Paris Fashion Week

Featuring looks from the Woolmark prize-winning collection, Adeju’s eighth project is a dialogue between Africa and the Occident, celebrating the merino wool fibre and its versatility. Merino wool; itself the product of crossbreeding European and African sheep is the perfect medium to explore the aesthetic space between Yoruba dress and historic European tailoring.

Using the traditional fabrics of western attire, we have transformed them with beadwork, (post-) àdìrẹ eleko, indigo bio-dyeing and the integration of brass art objects cast in the historic forges of Benin city.

Alluding to a softer, more feminine sensibility that ebbs and flows throughout the history of both dress traditions, Project 8 invites you to decipher the hidden messages encoded in its fabrics and tailoring. Shop now and tell us what you discover.
